AGV lithium battery winter maintenance knowledge
The power of AGV mainly relies on AGV lithium battery supply. Nowadays, many AGVs and unmanned handling machines tend to choose lithium batteries as their power source, which have significant advantages such as high energy, small volume, light weight, environmental protection and no pollution. However, lithium battery performance is greatly affected by temperature, especially in winter, in order to ensure that the lithium battery can give full play to its performance, the maintenance of AGV battery is particularly important. Next, we will discuss the maintenance of AGV lithium batteries in winter.
01 Indoor charging, avoid low temperature environment
In winter, AGVs should be kept indoors in a cool, dry and safe environment, and away from potential sources of danger such as corrosive chemicals and dangerous mechanical equipment. Choose indoor charging as much as possible to avoid damage to the battery caused by low-temperature environments. Poor outdoor environment or too low temperature may lead to battery damage, so charging outdoors is not recommended.
02 Charge at any time to avoid over-discharging.
Low temperature environment, the battery activity is reduced, which will lead to a significant decline in the charging and discharging efficiency of AGV trolley and AGV forklift lithium batteries, and it is easy to over-discharge or charge. This will not only affect the service life of the battery, but also may cause safety accidents. Therefore, in winter, it is recommended to use shallow charging and discharging to charge the AGV lithium battery and ensure that the battery is always fully charged. For discharged AGV lithium batteries, they should be recharged within 24 hours to extend battery life. Leaving the battery in an empty state for a long time may lead to damage to the battery’s internal cells, and this damage is irreversible.
03 Adopting the correct charging method
When charging, be sure to use the correct charging method. First, connect the charging head to the AGV lithium battery, then connect the charging head power plug to the power source and turn on the power. Correct charging method is an indispensable part of battery maintenance.
04 Choose the appropriate charging post
Make sure the charging post of the AGV is compatible with the lithium battery. The use of unsuitable chargers may lead to short-circuit faults when the current passes through the AGV lithium battery, thus causing safety accidents. This is not only detrimental to battery maintenance, but may also pose a threat to personal safety. If the charger malfunctions or does not work properly, it is recommended to contact the official to purchase a regular charger to ensure charging quality and safety.
05 Maintenance is still needed during idle period
In winter, even if the AGV is not used for a long time, the battery should be kept fully charged to prolong the battery life. If it is left idle for a long time without charging, it may lead to self-discharge of the lithium battery, destroying the battery structure and reducing the number of battery cycles. Therefore, it is recommended to charge at least once a month to maintain stable battery performance.
If you find that you can’t charge the AGV after not using it for a long time, you can try to start the vehicle and drive it slowly without load for a period of time (about 15 minutes), which is commonly known as “warming up”, and then charge it again. In cold weather, the AGV lithium battery activity decreases, so it is not recommended to wait until the power is depleted before charging, and should be charged appropriately in advance.
